A Strath Appin Taste of Finland
For some ten years now, Enerfoil Magnum Ltd has been distributing underfloor heating throughout the UK and Ireland. Recently the company moved to new, custom-built premises on the Kenmore Road, Comrie Bridge, near Aberfeldy. This move has meant that the company has now been able to expand the business with new products and new markets.
The underfloor heating business continues to grow with a nationwide distribution network. Despite its rural location, the internet and next day delivery services mean that Enerfoil enjoys the same commercial advantages as competitors based in the South East.
The company’s success is not only due to the high quality products but also the technical support and design service. The Technical Department is managed by Gordon Leighton and his colleague, Andrew Murray. Recently a new CAD system has been introduced which means designs are produced quickly and efficiently and are compatible with systems used by architects and house builders. |

A close relationship with Finland and a keen interest in energy and environmentally friendly products has meant the company has expanded into new areas which include Nunna Uuni soapstone storage fireplaces, log buildings and saunas.
It is also the UK importer for the Polish made Glass Fires and Bio-fireplaces. The Glass Fires which require no flue and run on a Biofuel enjoyed huge success when launched at The Hearth and Home Show in June. Already an impressive network of outlets displaying and selling these unique fires has been set up from Inverness and Aberdeen in the north to Kent and Cornwall in the south, as well as a main distributor in Ireland.
The new building was originally going to house only offices and a warehouse, with training facilities for trade customers for the fireplaces and underfloor heating. But with a growing interest both locally and further afield for the products, and a successful display at the Royal Highland Show, it was decided to add a showroom for the Finnish glass and soapstone items and a showsite for the log buildings, grills, grill houses and garden furniture. Responsibility for the showroom and day to day running of the administration falls to Kaye Dott.
With the expansion has come employment possibilities and the company is already employing more local staff.
Karelia House rewards visitors with a genuine ‘taste of Finland’ made the more stimulating by happening upon it in its discrete new location. It is open Mon – Fri 0900 – 1700 hours and Sat 0930 - 1600 hours. www.enerfoil.com
