Kinloch Rannoch Community's Housing Stance Vindicated
More than 130 letters of objection had been received from local residents protesting the plans resubmitted by Langvale Homes and Perthshire Housing Association for 30 properties – including affordable homes – on the high profile gap site of the fire-hit Bunrannoch Hotel in Kinloch Rannoch.
Coupled with the recommendation of Planning Chief Ian Sleith, this was sufficient to bring councillors unanimously to reject the application on 14 March for three separate units consisting of eight affordable properties, six terraced homes and 16 flats.
Despite the number of dwellings being cut back by the applicants from 40 to 30 it was still deemed to be "out of character with the village". |

Smallscale Preferred
Juliet Monckton, of the Rannoch & Tummel community council, noted that the community preferred a small-scale development. She said the proposed development would destroy the unspoilt character of the village and increase the population by around one third. She maintained the community opposed any large-scale development on the site.
Ian Sleith had observed: "I consider the proposal an overdevelopment of the site."
The site is within a National Scenic Area and a Special Area of Conservation.
