Janis Mylchreest was born at Aberfeldy Cottage Hospital while her father was a teacher at Breadalbane Academy. However, two years later, due to changes in her father’s job, the family moved to Dollar.

Educated at Dollar Academy she then secured a place at Stirling University, where she obtained a BA in Accountancy. Janis went on to complete her chartered accountancy training with Chiene & Tait CA of Edinburgh . Once qualified, she joined Price Waterhouse in Edinburgh, working there for 3 years and gaining valuable experience.

SME Specialist Janis, who pens the regular ‘Money Matters’ advice column in Comment, said: “I returned to live in Highland Perthshire nearly 20 years ago and concentrated on general practice work providing accounting and taxation services to a range of small and medium sized businesses”.
