Last Call for Local Broadband Enablement
Perthshire residents are being rallied to help find Scotland’s broadband blackspots as MSP Murdo Fraser calls on the Scottish Government to make all such blackspot areas broadband enabled in 2008.
Constituents in Perthshire who are still unable to get broadband care urged to log onto www.broadbandforscotland.co.uk and register the details of their area. This informs the Scottish Government of areas that still need to be broadband enabled. Details should be registered on the website by 18 January 2008.
Disadvantaged
The MSP reports that local residents and businesses in remote areas regularly raise with him their concerns that they are being disadvantaged because they cannot access broadband. He believes that the whole of Perthshire must be broadband enabled in 2008. |

Commenting, he said: “The Scottish Government must ensure that the whole of Perthshire is broadband enabled in 2008. I believe that rural parts of Perthshire and other rural areas are being disadvantaged without having access to broadband. Businesses in Perthshire that want to have broadband connection are losing out and this is holding back the local economy.
“I will continue to put pressure on the Scottish Government until the whole of Perthshire is broadband enabled as it is totally unacceptable that there is a two-tier communication system in Scotland.”
