Signature Style in Pitlochry

That elusive combination of high quality and great design ideas for home and garden can now be found in the first outlet of this kind in Pitlochry. Oktober Interiors, owned and run by husband and wife team Mark and Rachael Woods, was launched at the start of November.

It was when renovating and styling her own family home in Kirkmichael that Rachael first felt there was a lack of quality home interior and garden products in the area. “I was tired of having to drive to Perth every time I needed something stylish for the house”, she told Comment.

Following their continuing success with The Christmas Emporium, the couple were looking for another project and launching their own Interiors shop seemed like the obvious solution.

Family Tradition
Rachael’s innate sense of style comes from a long family tradition of design including her great, great grandfather John Mackenzie Miller, principle tweed designer at the Hayford Mill near Stirling for many years.

Three generations later the family is back in Scotland from Yorkshire, where they moved in the 1920s, to continue the tradition for inspired design ideas.

The connection with tweed continues to feature as Oktober Interiors stocks soft furnishings covered in locally woven tweed from the Glen Lyon Mill, Aberfeldy.

Oktober Interiors can help with great design and accessory ideas for the completely redesigned home, or just to freshen an existing look ranging from an understated grace to a visual and sensory feast.

Vintage Items Planned
“It’s amazing what just one or two good accent pieces can achieve in the overall feel of a room”, said Rachael. “I would advise trying a mixture of textures in the room design, this can enrich a subtle colour scheme and create a quality of comfort and ease in the home.”

Rachael and Mark’s plans for the future include stocking vintage pieces, furniture, antiques and collectables to give an eclectic mix of styles sure to keep everyone happy.

The Woods can be contacted at Oktober Interiors in Atholl Road on 01794 470555
