Pride & Passion Initiative at PFT

Depute Chief Executive and Commercial Director with Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Derek Allan, is hanging up his business suit for the day and donning a set of headphones when he joins the Box office staff on 12 March as part of “Back 2 the Floor” month.

This Pride & Passion initiative is challenging tourism executives whose usual habitat is behind a desk and in front of a screen to roll up their sleeves and go back to the floor, shoulder to shoulder with front line staff. The event provides an opportunity for them to place themselves at the sharp end of their businesses, experiencing customer reactions first hand.

Derek, who left the floor over twenty years ago said: "Our audiences come from all over the world to attend a performance at Pitlochry Festival Theatre; they come for the whole experience, fantastic productions in a beautiful location. A crucial element in making it a memorable experience is the link with our Box Office. I am looking forward to helping customers arrange their visit to PFT."

Pride & Passion

This initiative is the idea of a bunch of passionate people within the tourism industry who wanted things to change – to kick start a movement that will take the visitor experience in Scotland from great to exceptional.

The movement’s aim is to encourage people to add a bit extra to the customer experience so that Scotland’s visitors keep coming back for more. www.prideandpassion.net. The movement enjoys support from Muriel Gray, Nick Nairn and ‘Scotland the Best’ author Pete Irvine.

Gillian Stirton, Project Manager with Pride & Passion said: “With Easter fast approaching, we couldn’t think of a better time to hold our Back 2 the Floor event. It’s a great way for managers and owners of tourism businesses to get back to the coal face and see first hand, how their business is delivering customer service.

" Getting the customer experience right is critical to visitors having a great time and wanting to come back again and again to Scotland. Back 2 the floor focuses on what we are all working towards – happy visitors.”
