Of particular interest to Highland Perthshire residents is that Diana also studied Scottish Song with Petrine Stewart, the mod gold medallist. Diana has performed in New Zealand, UK, Europe and Ukraine as well as on NZBC radio and television and ITV. Norman also studied in Italy following studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, “Although my most important influence was undoubtedly Nadia Boulanger who taught and advised me in Paris and then appointed me to the teaching staff at the Conservatoire Americain at Fontainebleau,” he told Comment. Nadia Boulanger, who had worked with many of the great musicians of the twentieth century, has described Norman as “...a real artist, a real musician...”. In 1980 Norman was made Assistant Director of the Conservatoire Americain. Teaching Norman is active as a pianist and conductor and has performed in UK, Europe and the Far East as well as conducting in UK with the City of Peterborough Symphony Orchestra, Classic East Orchestra and Ukraine with the National Symphony Orchestra. He is also a professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is currently writing a book on the training of musicians with particular focus on pianists. Norman and Diana have wide teaching experience of all age groups - from absolute beginners to experienced professionals.
