Pitlochry Pie's Performance

At a recent award ceremony at McDiarmid Park, hosted by the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders, Macdonald Brothers, Pitlochry was awarded a Gold Award for their famous traditional steak pie.

A mystery shopper had called at the premises in Bonnethill Road, Pitlochry and purchased a pie, which was then judged by a panel of top chefs who checked for flavour, texture and quality of meat and pastry.

Rory Macdonald, who attended the award ceremony with his staff, told Comment: “We have always known that our steak pie was of a very high standard due to the amount of repeat custom from people all over the country, there are even those who make a special trip to Pitlochry to buy them.

“It’s great to get all our hard work acknowledged, especially for the bakers who make all their pastry from scratch.”
