Scottish Enterprise Network 'Revitalised'
Local MSP and Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney, announced in Parliament his plans to revitalise Scotland's enterprise networks. This move is aimed to cut the burden of bureaucracy and red tape for Highland Perthshire businesses and those throughout the rest of Scotland. At the heart of the Government's plans is a reshaping of Scottish Enterprise, reducing wastage in order that businesses have a direct route to further development, with a view to increased sustainable economic growth across the board.
"My announcement in Parliament was an important step by this Government to improve Scotland 's economic growth levels, a move which the country is much in need of and can only be done if we have a focused approach at local and indeed national level," the Minister told Comment. |

Red Tape
"One of the most common concerns of the business community in Highland Perthshire and across Scotland is the overwhelming burden of red tape, thus reducing their ability to focus on long term aims as much as they would like.
"As a Government we promised a reshaping of the enterprise network in Scotland when in power and this is exactly what we have done. By reducing local enterprise companies from 21 to 6, we have reduced the layers which businesses and projects have to go through to contribute to Scotland 's economic growth.
Local Communities
The measures put in place have resulted from direct engagement with the networks themselves, the business community, trade unions, local authorities and other associated stakeholders over a lengthy period of time.
The Minister continued: "By listening to what companies have had to say in Highland Perthshire and other local areas, we have put in place measures which amount to a firm new direction for our enterprise networks, and which in the long term will improve Scotland's productivity at a national, European and global level.
"Local communities have a vital role to play in a revitalised Scottish economy and we are committed to ensure the business community in towns such as Aberfeldy, Pitlochry and Dunkeld have the conditions in place which will best allow them to succeed.
