The Inn's Back in Good Heart
While most of Perthshire is suffering the current rainfall, for Grandtully and Strathtay the complaints have been of a six week dry spell with the loss of their local when the Riverside Inn closed its doors in early May.
Now, after a substantial facelift, the result is the stunning Inn on the Tay which has opened its doors for business. New owners Geoff Wilson and Josie Pirie have given up the big city life in Glasgow for the beautiful location on the banks of the Tay.
For almost two months the couple has been refurbishing the Inn, producing a public bar, residents’ lounge, five letting bedrooms and a restaurant, with unrivalled views of the Grandtully Falls. Geoff told Comment: “With a decked area for |

external dining, and a children’s play area still to follow, there really is something for everyone.”
Geoff and Josie have 30 years’ catering experience between them - Geoff was the deputy manager at the well-known seafood restaurant the Rogano in Glasgow. They reckon that this is undoubtedly the move they have been waiting for.
Josie said: “Visiting the area for the past 7 years to see family, we have admired the unique location of the Inn and believe there is a gap in the market for a great family-friendly restaurant, committed to fresh produce and great service.”
The couple, along with their two children, now live in Grandtully and they have been delighted with their warm welcome to the area and overwhelmed by the positive response that their hard work has received locally.
The Inn on the Tay is now open all year round, with food available throughout the day, although Geoff advises booking for evening meals. As a token of their delight in welcoming evening custom, they offer a complimentary bottle of wine with every dinner reservation made until 31 July. Just call Geoff or Josie on 01887 840760.
