Two Into One (Stop) Shop in Pitlochry
TWO third generation family businesses in Highland Perthshire have joined forces to offer consumers the chance to have a ‘one-stop shop,’ offering quality fresh produce, all available in Bonnethill Road, Pitlochry.
McPherson’s, which has operated in the town since 1922 offering fresh fruit and vegetables to the retail and wholesale sector, is relocating during the summer months from its premises in Atholl Road. This restructuring of the business led to its retail arm removing, from 1 May, to Macdonald Bros in Bonnethill Road.
Now customers at Macdonalds can purchase not only their high quality meat products, but also a much broader range of deli items - such as cheese, grocery items, soft fruit, fresh herbs and vegetables. |

Garth McPherson told Comment: “This joint venture with Macdonalds allows us to continue our longstanding relationship with our high street customers, whilst our new premises permit a greater flexibility on the wholesale side of the business.”
Macdonald Bros, butchers in Bonnethill Road, have been in Pitlochry since their relocation from Dunkeld in 1959. Rory Macdonald, the owner, said: “We are continually expanding and increasing the products we offer to our customers. This exciting new development now allows us to offer them all that they require under one roof. We will also take orders for fresh fish, which is available at MacPhersons”.
Further expansion plans at Macdonalds, scheduled for the late summer/early autumn, include developing the outside courtyard area which will increase their kitchen size allowing more scope for producing prepared meals and homebaking.
The pair are working hard to make this joint venture a great success.
